Yeah yeah, I know, I said I’d be more consistent with this whole blogging thing and, well, I sort of haven’t.
Not that there’s been anything to report really.
Our trip to Disneyland Paris is drawing ever closer, though the excitement has yet to kick in. I suppose it’s because we’ve been busy getting everything sorted. There’s the travel insurance, making sure the car is legal for the French roads and organising the various stops on the drive there and back.
Talking of the car, that suffered its first mechanical setback since I bought it, nothing too major, the backbox had sort of given up the ghost, Honda wanted £300 to replace it but the idea of spending that much money so close to the holiday didn’t really appeal to anybody. So instead I had the guys at Pipe Dynamics in Fife build me a new one for significantly less than the quote Honda gave me. The exhaust note is lovely too! Happy me!
Anyway, I digress…Back to the France thing. I’m pretty sure I’m more excited about taking photos in Paris than I am about high-fiving Mickey Mouse.
So far we’ve planned to head into Paris on one day of the week. It’s surprising how expensive it can actually get when there’s 5 of us – okay our youngest goes free – but even just paying for travel for the 4 of us is ludicrously expensive, especially as everything we want to see in Paris is spread so far apart – and no, I’m not walking around Paris all day with 3 grumpy children in tow.
So we’ve already bought some travel passes, it cost us about £77 for the day but gives us unlimited travel for that particular day, be it bus, metro or the RER and covers all 5 zones (Paris has different ‘zones’ depending on how close to middle of Paris you are. So zone 1 is the centre and zone 5 is where you find Disneyland.
Erm…that’s about it really.
